FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The Seven Mile Cafe offers a relaxed and informal destination, providing quality and innovation in food, fine wine and service in an unsurpassed beachfront location - put simply the 'Best in Paradise'. The Seven Mile Cafe is an idyllic place to convene your celebrations, allowing you and your guests to greet and mingle amongst the pandanas' in the gorgeous surrounds of Seven Mile Beach.
If you're talking wedding bells, many couples even choose to take their vows here.
Whether you're planning a wedding or any other special occasion our location presents superb photo opportunities with breathtaking views south to the Point and Lennox Head and north to Broken Head and beyond.
Weather permitting, the lawn across from the restaurant is available to you and few if any special arrangements need to be made. However, if you intend to erect a marquee or canopy you may need council permission. For details, enquire with Ballina Shire Council at www.ballinacouncil.com.au or phone 02 6686 4444.
Things to consider...
o Our normal A La Carte services are Dinner from Wednesday to Saturday and Lunch from Friday to Sunday.
o During these times, the restaurant is available for Weddings or Functions on either a non-exclusive basis, or
with sufficient guest numbers, on an exclusive basis .
o The restaurant is also able to open for Dinner on Sunday or Lunch on Wednesday or Thursday, for Weddings or
Functions on an exclusive basis (with sufficient guest numbers).
o Special rates are available for midweek lunch or dinner services.
o You can also decide whether you want your service in 'A la carte' or 'Alternate' format.
o Lunch services commence at 12 noon and conclude at 4.30pm.
o Dinner service usually commences at 6.00pm (earlier if required) but must conclude by midnight.
Menus...
o Menus - We can provide our most popular event menu options & our current a la carte for
your consideration, however they are indicative of our current menus only and may change
by the time your event comes around.
o You can choose between informal to more traditional styles and from A la carte to Alternate
formats.
o We can keep you up to date with what's happening 'seasonally' on the menu and if there is
something specific you would like just let us know.
o Kids' meals, special diets (gluten free etc) & vegetarians can be accommodated with no
problem at all.
o Kids are charged at the same rate as adults or alternatively kids' meals are available if
requested in advance; rates available on request.
What to do about drinks...
o To help budget for alcohol consider that each adult guest may consume 1 to 1.5 bottles of
wine, or the equivalent of - for example - 1 or 2 glasses of bubbly and/or a beer or 2 to start
with during the canapes, then 2 to 3 glasses of wine with the meal, another glass of bubbly
for the toast and then after the meal - well you know your guests better than we do - but to
be safe - budget at least $30 - $35.00 per adult guest.
o You may also like to designate specifically what you want to offer your guests
i.e. champagne, wine, beer and/or spirits etc.
o We will manage the consumption of alcohol by serving all drinks by the glass, charged by
the bottle in the case of wine. We will also closely monitor the 'spend' versus the 'budget'
and discreetly inform you of your progress if required.
o A complimentary wine / menu matching service is available.
o Seven Mile Cafe is fully licenced and applies a responsible service of alcohol policy.
o BYO is regrettably NOT available to group bookings greater than eight (8) people.
Seating your guests...
o Seven Mile Cafe will seat and cater for up to 80 guests in comfort.
o Your seating plan will of course depend on how many guests you will have.
o We can provide you a layout of the restaurant and seating plans to suit your guest numbers
to help with the planning.
o You are welcome to provide personalised place cards. A guest list with allocated seating is
also a great idea.
What about music?
o Your entertainment can be as simple as playing your favorite CD's throughout the event or
you may like to employ an artist - it's up to you.
A one or two piece outfit would best suit the space we have. Let us know either way so we
can make arrangements if needed.
o Seven Mile Cafe is a unique commercial operation nestled amongst private residences
hence your consideration of our neighbors with regard to noise levels is appreciated.
Celebration cake or dessert?
o You are welcome to provide a wedding / celebration cake in lieu of dessert or as take
home gifts: a cake service charge will apply.
o Supply of the cake will be the responsibility of the organiser.
Decorations...
o Flower arrangements for the table and bonbonierre are welcome. Supply & display of such
remains the responsibility of the organiser.
Confirming your booking and deposit/payment details...
o At the time of confirming the booking a deposit of 30% of the estimated catering costs is
payable. This deposit is refundable up to 90 days prior to your event after which it is
forfeited.
o Deposits made for events with less than 90 days notice are not refundable.
o Deposits can be made by cash, credit card, direct deposit or EFTPOS. A fee may apply to
Diners and American Express cards.
o The balance will be payable on the day by cash, EFTPOS or credit card only. Regrettably,
we don't accept personal/company cheques for final payments.
o Only one account will be presented at the conclusion of your event.
o The guaranteed number of guests attending your event is required 7 calendar days prior to
the event taking place. Final charges will be based on these guaranteed minimum
numbers or the final head count whichever is greater.
Cancellations...
o If it occurs that a confirmed booking must unfortunately be cancelled with less than 90
calendar days notice no refund will be available.
